Ashley Lucas, RN, IBCLC
Ashley brings 18 years of experience caring for mothers and babies through postpartum nursing, the newborn nursery, NICU care, and lactation support, including 12 years specifically in lactation. But her passion for this work is personal, too. Ashley remembers what it felt like to be the exhausted mom searching for answers and trying to figure out how to feed her own baby, and that experience continues to shape the way she cares for families today.
As an RN and IBCLC, Ashley takes a warm, holistic and evidence based approach to breastfeeding support. She believes in slowing down, really listening to each family, and looking for the why behind a feeding struggle, rather than simply treating the symptoms. Her experience includes complex latch and feeding concerns, low milk supply, slow weight gain, tongue restrictions and oral function, bottle refusal, and advanced oral assessments.
More than anything, Ashley wants families to feel like they already have someone in their corner. Her goal is to help parents understand their babies, feel confident in their own instincts, and know exactly where to turn if breastfeeding gets hard.

Tabitha Damm, Postpartum & Birth Doula
Tabbie is a Postpartum Doula, Birth Doula, a breastfeeding mama, and has more than eight years of experience working as a private nanny & care provider. She has spent years supporting children and families through everyday care, transitions, and the early stages of parenthood.
Her background as a relationship coach has led to a strong focus on partner support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. She is currently writing both a course and a book on birth partners, with the goal of helping partners understand what is happening, what support needs to look like, and how to take an empowered role.
Her teaching style is energetic, practical, and grounded in physiology. Tabitha enjoys teaching psychology and sharing ways stress, communication, nervous system responses, and our subconscious coping mechanisms shape the postpartum experience.
Through Joy Journeys Birth Services, Tabbie helps families prepare with clear information and useful tools. During Breastfeeding Prepared, she’ll focus on partner support, communication, setting up the breastfeeding environment, and helping couples feel more prepared to work as a team once baby arrives.

Setting Yourself Up for Success
Prepare your home and feeding spaces before baby arrives. We’ll talk about what you actually need nearby, comfort, nourishment, reducing overwhelm, and creating an environment that supports feeding and recovery.
Partner Support
Partners, you have a BIG role in breastfeeding too.
We’ll talk about practical ways to support the breastfeeding parent, communication during those intense early postpartum days, protecting rest, recognizing overwhelm, helping regulate the environment, and becoming an active part of the feeding team.
Building Your Support System Before Baby
One of the best times to establish lactation support is before you desperately need it.
We’ll discuss the benefits of a prenatal lactation consultation, how individualized preparation can help identify potential concerns ahead of time, and why already knowing who to call can make getting help postpartum so much easier.

A Hands On Workshop for Expecting Parents
Breastfeeding Prepared is a practical prenatal workshop designed to help you and your partner feel more confident before baby arrives.
Instead of waiting until you’re exhausted, sore, overwhelmed, and trying to figure everything out in the moment, this class gives you a strong foundation ahead of time.
Led by Ashley Lucas, RN, IBCLC of Chattanooga Lactation and Tabbie of Joy Journeys Birth Services, this workshop combines breastfeeding education with real-life preparation for the early postpartum days.
You’ll learn about breastfeeding basics, milk production, latch and positioning, common challenges, partner support, communication, creating a comfortable feeding space, and when to reach out for additional help.
A major focus of the class is helping couples understand how to work as a team. Your partner will leave with practical ways to support feeding, recovery, rest, communication, and the emotional side of those first days at home.
